While I love a good, from scratch, home-cooked meal, that isn’t always a reality in my home everyday. I love to cook and take the time to be creative and special with all of the components of a meal, but it doesn’t happen on the daily. Instead, my goal is to make as much of the meal at home and from scratch as possible, but if I need to get a pre-made teriyaki sauce or a bag or two of ramen for that meal, then I’m going to do it. In the long run, making those things myself would take me way more time and effort than I really would like to put forth for a simple weeknight meal. Honestly, I just have a lot of other things I would rather be doing instead.
With that being said, today’s recipe has a couple pre-made ingredients, teriyaki sauce and prepackaged ramen noodles, but it also includes a lot of veggies and protein in the form of chicken. By using these time saving items, it makes the meal into a quick and easy supper that your whole family will love!
The best part about this meal is how flexible it is! You can use many different kinds of vegetables in this recipe. For example, I used cabbage, carrots, and zucchini in my version, but I have used broccoli and snap peas as well. Another switch you could make is in the sauces. Teriyaki sauce and soy sauce are great for my family, but if you love a spicier sauce or maybe a sweeter sauce, then you can use one or both of those instead. The choices are up to you! I really encourage you to try out various combinations to see what tasty stir fry sauces and bowls you can create.

Are stir fry noodles the same as ramen noodles?
No, normal stir fry noodles are not the same as ramen noodles. The stir fry noodles you will see in restaurants or in specific stores are thicker and can handle being cooked and flipped at a high temperature without a lot of liquid, like you might see at a Mongolian grill style restaurant. However, this is a difficult process for the home chef to replicate, and that is why I use the ramen noodles instead since they are much easier to prepare and do not require specialty equipment. Plus, the ramen noodles can be easier to find and a lot cheaper than stir fry noodles at times.
Can you stir fry ramen noodles?
Ramen noodles do not stir fry well for a couple reasons. They are very thin and are designed to be cooked quickly in water, which is what makes them super convenient. Stir fry techniques do not use a lot of water in most cases. However, the biggest reason is because the ramen noodles themselves are very thin, and they would end up just tearing apart instead of cooking the same way that stir fry noodles do.

What vegetables are served in chicken ramen stir fry?
The veggies you put in this easy chicken ramen stir fry are really up to you! Some options could be:
- carrots
- cabbage
- zucchini
- snap peas
- onions
- peppers
- broccoli
- cauliflower
There are really so many options for delicious stir fry vegetables that I could not possibly list them all, but if you are looking for inspiration, try a couple from the above list and see how you like them.
What sauces could you use on chicken ramen stir fry?
Chicken ramen stir fry is a very versatile dish that could easily pair with a myriad of different sauces. Some ideas are:
- peanut sauce
- stir fry sauce
- orange chicken sauce
- ginger garlic sauce
- sesame sauce
I am a teriyaki and soy sauce girl, but all of these sound really good and can be found with lots of variations depending on the brands available where you live. I am sure I missed some other options too, so next time you are at the grocery store check out what the options are locally for yourself!

Ingredients:
- Chicken Thighs, Precooked & Shredded
- Cabbage, Carrots, & Zucchini (or whatever vegetables you choose)
- Teriyaki Sauce
- Soy Sauce
- Olive Oil
- Ramen Noodles
How to Make Chicken Ramen Stir Fry:
Place your skillet over medium heat, and pour oil in while preheating. Also, start water to boil according to package directions for your ramen. Chop up your vegetables into bite sized pieces while you wait.
Once pan is up to temperature, add the carrots (or tougher vegetables) first, and then layer with cabbage and zucchini (or softer vegetables), and finally add the precooked chicken. Pour small amount of sauces, up to a quarter cup, over the vegetable mixture, stir to coat, and cook until vegetables are soft but still with some bite. This usually takes between 5-10 minutes. Try not to over-stir while everything cooks!
While you are waiting for the vegetable mixture to cook, prepare the ramen according to the package directions. When finished, drain out much of the water. The ramen should be ready just as the vegetables are ready!
Turn the skillet onto low heat. Then using a pair of tongs, add the ramen to the skillet, pour over remaining sauces, and mix everything together.
Once everything is combined and evenly incorporated, serve up in bowls, and enjoy immediately!
