Cute as a Button Hanger with crochet hook

Quick and Easy Summer Crochet Projects!

Summer time is a great time for fun, travel, and creativity, especially summer crochet projects. We all need those quick and simple crochet projects that we can take with us where ever we go. Plus, if we can make multiple of them on the road, then it’s even better! The crochet projects below are all quick and easy crochet patterns that you can work up pretty quickly, and many of them use similar yarn or crochet hooks, which means you could take multiple projects with you as you travel! Check out these crochet patterns and get to creating!

Anyone else get the urge to crochet something smaller than blankets during the summer months? Between the heat and my desire to get outside more, the bigger crochet projects just don’t sound as appealing in the summer months. Instead, I like to choose small or quick turn around projects that I can use for my home or Etsy shop, gifts for friends and family, or whatever I need. While I do love experimenting with crochet and writing my own patterns, there are just times you want to have the guesswork taken out and just enjoy the process of creating. So that is where these crochet patterns come in handy!

For this post, I have a few free crochet patterns and some that are only available in my Etsy shop. I will give you links to both below for your convenience.

The Cute as a Button Hanger is a versatile piece of decor that can be used for a plant hanger, hanging office storage, seasonal decor, an ornament, or so many other things. Your imagination is really the limit!

The pattern works up quickly (like under an hour), is easy to follow (includes lots of pictures), and would make great gifts. I could totally see gifting this crocheted hanger with a small potted plant in it as an adorable house warming gift. This would be perfect as well if you wanted to make a small gift for someone or wanted some extra space to organize things like keys, wallets, or other clutter items that end up on your counters and floor.

3. Reusable Mesh Produce Bag – Beginner Pattern

Anybody else get tired of those filmy, plastic produce bags that you get at the store? Personally, they drive me nuts, and because they are so thin, it’s difficult to find ways to reuse them. Instead, I wanted a reusable bag that could be used to grab my fruits and veggies and that I could wash and keep using for a long time without it over-stretching or losing its integrity. Thus, the idea for the Reusable Mesh Produce Bag was born!

Level: Beginner

Supplies:

-2.5 oz. of worsted weight, cotton yarn (I used Lily Sugar’n Cream in Overcast and Teal in my pictures)

-H/8-5.00mm crochet hook

-(optional) 2 wood beads, for the ends of the drawstring

This pattern is available free on my blog here, or you can grab the ad free version here in my Etsy shop.

You can customize the colors to create your own version of this granny tote bag. Personally, I love the beach day feel of this bag, but really you can use it for whatever you need!

Who needs a cross-body book bag? The question should be: Who doesn’t? This book bag pattern is a favorite of mine for library hauls, but you could easily use it for a purse, a travel bag, or to put your work in progress projects in during a summer trip! The best thing though is that this bag works up super quickly and can be made with any worsted weight yarn. Personally, I love the stripes but you could just as easily make it a solid color or even do three stripes if you wanted. I love pattern styles that can be customized to fit you!

Level: Intermediate Beginner

Supplies:

-H/8 5mm hook, depending on gauge

-2 skeins of worsted weight yarn; cotton would be best, but you could use whatever you would like) (approximately 10 oz. total, depending on your gauge)

Which will you get started with?
