The Braided Puff Coffee Cozy is a beautifully textured crochet project that is the perfect accessory for any coffee lover. The braided puff stitch provides a lovely visual interest while it also helps keep ahold of that glorious cup of joe. The whole cozy uses just a few advanced beginner stitches to create this fun project, and you can whip one up in about 30 minutes!

After designing my Braided Puff Headband, I knew I had to create more projects that featured the beautiful braided puff stitch combination. However, with the changing seasons, I wanted my next design with this pattern to be something that I could use all the time. That’s when the idea came to me for a coffee cozy!
I know that most people think of coffee cozies only for hot drinks. However, I personally use them just as often for my iced coffees as well! The Braided Puff Coffee Cozy should be large enough to fit over most iced drink cups as well as hot drink cups. So, whether you love hot or cold coffee, this pattern will be a quick and easy go-to for you!

Why you’ll love this pattern:
Quick to work up!
These Braided Puff Coffee Cozies can be worked up in about 30 minutes! I timed myself when I was crocheting this pattern with a color change for the braided puff stitches. If you wanted to crochet the cozy with only one color, you might be able to crochet it in under 30 minutes. The short completion time makes it one of my favorite market prep patterns right now!
Perfect stash buster!
Because this crochet pattern uses only about 36 yards of yarn total, it is the perfect stash buster pattern! With the color stripe in the braid, the two colors should need about equal yardages. This means you can use all those scrap yarn pieces to crochet this beautiful and fun coffee cozy pattern!
Easy no-sew design!
I know many crocheters really despise needing to sew ends or pieces together, so I designed this crochet pattern in the round to make life easier for you! The only time you need to pick up your yarn needle will be to weave in those ends.
Lots of Texture!
If you have been around for a while, you know that I love simple crochet patterns with lots of texture. Stitch texture adds so much visual interest, and the Braided Puff Coffee Cozy is no exception! By using crochet techniques in combination with fun stitch combinations, the stitch texture of this pattern is both beautiful and unique.

What yarn should I use to make a coffee cozy?
Truly, you could use any worsted weight yarn that allows you to meet gauge. However, I highly recommend 100% cotton yarn as I have had the best luck with it not overstretching or losing shape over time. I used several different brands when testing this pattern, and my favorite colors were from I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby. However, the stitch texture stood out so well with the Fundamental Cotton from Yarn Bee. Really, you could use whatever your favorite cotton yarn is to create this Braided Puff Coffee Cozy.
